  1. Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water until tender, about 18 minutes, and keep warm.
  2. Melt the butter in a heavy pan over high heat and quickly brown the thinly sliced beef in batches.
  3. Add the onion and fry for a minute, then pour in the beef stock and water and add the allspice and bay leaf.
  4. Lower the heat, cover and braise gently for about 30 minutes until the meat is tender. Season with salt and pepper and remove the bay leaf.
  5. Serve the braised beef with the boiled potatoes and a spoonful of lingonberry.
